Beaver Creek Valley State Park, Caledonia, Minnesota
Before arriving at this park, I honestly didn’t have high expectations. I’ve been to some very impressive state parks before this and this one didn’t seem as exciting. I was right and wrong. It absolutely wasn’t as exciting; however, it was impressive in its own way!
As we made our decent into the park the scenery around us became more beautiful. The landscape also became more secluded. What Beaver Creek Valley Boasts is its serenity! This park is so peaceful and tucked away from the world.
We first drove into the campsite area. There were several camper sites in use. Past the RV and camper trailer sites are some beautiful tent campsites. These sites are very basic and offer a rustic feel for being one with nature! The sites are close together, but they are private and well separated by woods. If you choose to camp at an off-peak time you’d feel very much alone in the forest! At the end of the road, we were very astonished to find a solar powered water well! I didn’t even know that existed until we saw it! We of course had to try it out and it work great! How cool?! There are outhouses at the end of the road as well, but now indoor plumbing. There are also accesses to a few trails along the road in the campsite area.
Coming back into the main area there is a small playground for kids to play. There is also a volleyball court. There are plenty of picnic tables for day use! There is not a restroom with plumbing, but there is another outhouse available. Also in the main area is a charming bridge across the creek! Once on the other side you’ll find for trails and picnic areas! I also found a great little trail to the creek for some great time to sit and relax and take in all the beautiful sights and sounds of the nature around me!
