Burgess Falls State Park, in Tennessee is a great spot to be able to conveniently enjoy some beautiful waterfalls. It is only a short walk from the parking lot to the head of the trail. Right at the trail head was the first set of waterfalls waiting to greet you! This makes is a great spot if you are crunched for time or not up for a hike but would still like to see and hear the beauty of some waterfalls.

We were crunched for time but wanted to fit in one last stop before catching our flight home. We would have loved to be able to make the hike all the way to the big falls, but that wasn’t in the cards for this trip. That’s why we were delighted to find this gem of a place that still allowed for us see one last beautiful place.

The path from the parking lot is paved and easy to take to view the waterfalls. I would rate the accessibility of the hiking trail itself as moderate. We did walk a short ways up the trail to take in some more views. The path is rugged with dirt, small rocks, tree roots and leaves. There are some railings, but there are also a few spots with out railing that have a very steep drop right off the trial. If traveling with kids you would need to keep a very watchful eye on them! I walked this path in my flip fops because that’s what I wear everywhere. However proper hiking boots or shoes is advisable due to the rugged terrain.

The walk itself isn’t strenuous in terms of exercise and can easily be accomplished by the average person. You can walk at your own pace for the most part. There are some tight spots on the path that do make it difficult for people to walk past, so that would be something to keep in mind, but depending on the amount of people there it may not be an issue.

A short ways up from the trail head is an old suspension bridge! It is worth seeing just for the awe that it used to be in use once upon a time! Definitely wasn’t a bridge to cross for the faint of heart! Along the way you have many great angles to see the falls along the way!

It is overall, a great must-see spot if you find yourself in the area with limited time! It’s worth a quick peak!

Happy travels and stay sunny!
