Holiday Inn Club Vacations - Cape Canaveral, Florida

We visited here last December and really enjoyed our stay! I always appreciate how well the Holiday Inn Club Vacations properties are maintained. The grounds are nicely kept, and the rooms are always clean and comfortable and feel like home. Our kids enjoyed the pools even though it was December. They were warm enough and enjoyable for a swim. Our unit was located in the far building along the ocean, making for a quiet stay with great views! Our room had a huge balcony which was very enjoyable! You could also leave the door open and hear the sound of the ocean while you sleep! I'm a big fan of places that have that! Our unit was clean and well maintained overall. The living room TV had a picture, but no audio. I called to tell the front desk, so hopefully, they fixed it for the next guests. Otherwise, the unit has all the amenities of home, giving it a nice feeling. I love having a washer and dryer right in the unit! A very nice touch! We didn't realize when we booked here that it was right next to a major sea port. I give that concept mixed reviews. It was neat seeing some ships go in and out of port. We even got to see a Navy Sub return from sea, which was so cool! However, after awhile it was getting annoying to see ships all the time. It also made me wonder about the water quality at the beach due to all this ship action.

Nearby activities

We mostly stayed at the resort but did get out for some nearby shopping and restaurants. There wasn't much to do within walking distance of the resort. Most notable places required a drive.

Walkability

There is a nice boardwalk along the property to get you from your room to the beach. You could also walk up and down the beach. However, the resort itself wasn't within walking distance too much - which I liked for the quieter feel to it!

Food & drinks

We didn't use the restaurant, but there was one on the resort. They also offer snacks you can buy, but they are very overpriced for the "convenience."

Noteworthy details

We weren’t planning to see a rocket launch, but due to the close proximity to Space Fource, we were able to see a Space X rocket launch from the resort! So, if you plan your trip accordingly, you may be able to see a rocket launch from here. Just be aware that the rocket launches are subject to change time and dates due to a variety of reasons.

Pros:

- Pool is open year-round.

- Ocean view rooms

- Beach access. - very scenic walk to the beach through a mini forest on a boardwalk.

- You can hear the ocean while sleeping.

- Washer and dryer in the unit

Cons:

- No towels provided at the pool. You have to remember to bring your own, which is a hassle if your room is far from the main building.

- No amenities are provided on the beach. It would be nice for the resort to provide tables and chairs for guests. The beach was very bare and dull. Could use palm trees and landscaping to give it a nicer look.

- Snacks and drinks are always way overpriced at the Holiday Inn Club Resorts. Bring your own if you can!

Overall, though, we enjoyed our time here and would consider returning if we found ourselves in the area again.
